The family behind Viking Wheels
Hi there! We’re Reynir and Ívar, two brothers from Reykjavík, Iceland. Together with our friend Jói, we’re the team behind Viking Wheels Car Rental, a small family company with one simple goal: making every rental a 5-star experience.
How it started
Viking Wheels began as a two-brother operation. Between us, we’d spent years working in service, sales, and support, and eventually we figured it was time to put all that experience into something of our own. What better way than helping people explore Iceland?
We believe the car you drive is one of the most important parts of any Iceland trip. Get that right, and the whole journey gets easier (and maybe even a little more fun).
Meet the team
Reynir (Rey)
The Iceland ambassador
Rey is the older brother by two years. He lives abroad, where he’s made it his mission to turn everyone he meets into an Iceland superfan. When he’s not talking about volcanoes and hot springs, he works in customer support for a tech company, bringing service experience from years of working in Iceland, Denmark, and Spain.
Ívar
Driver of Reykjavík’s cleanest taxi
Ívar has worked in restaurants and bars and spent many years as a bicycle salesman. These days, he drives the cleanest taxi in Reykjavík (honestly, he’s obsessed with cleaning cars!). His taxi is so clean you could eat off the floor mats (though he’d probably prefer you didn’t).
Jói
Our brother from another mother!
Jói isn’t related to us, but he’s been part of the family since he joined in 2025. He’s a Reykjavík local and, like Ívar, drives a taxi, so between the two of them, there’s hardly a street in the city they don’t know.
Still small, still family
We’ve grown a little since we started, but we’re still a small family company, and that’s exactly how we like it. Between customer support and two taxis, looking after people is what we do all day, and it’s what we care about most here, too. Customer service isn’t a department at Viking Wheels. It’s just us.
