This agreement is between the lessee and Viking Wheels Car Rental.
We do not require a deposit or card hold for rentals. However, we will collect credit card details at pickup in case of damages or fines accrued during the rental period.
Your rental includes free unlimited mileage.
The lessor shall keep the vehicle in a good state of repair and fit for use during the leasing period and shall comply with any enactment respecting standards of health, safety or driving notwithstanding any state of non-repair that may have existed at the time the agreement was entered into.
The lessee shall be responsible for the ordinary cleanliness of the interior of the vehicle and for the repair of damage caused by any wilful or negligent act of the lessee or of any person whom the lessee leases the vehicle to, but not for damage caused by normal wear and tear.
Financial responsibility for repairs depends on the cause of damage, insurance bought with the lease, and compliance with terms and conditions of use.
In the event that the bodywork or interior is damaged during the rental, the maximum amount that you could have to pay would be the so-called "Self Risk".
The coverage will only be valid if the terms of the rental agreement are fulfilled.
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) - FREE
With the Collision Damage Waiver insurance the lessee is liable for Self-Risk of damages up to 150.000 ISK. This insurance is included in the rental. If your rental does not include add-on insurance, then your Self-Risk amount is 150.000 ISK. Insurance can be added to your rental at the pickup of your vehicle.

Partial Insurance Includes:
Gravel Protection: The lessee is insured for any damages caused by rocks thrown onto the car which might damage the paint of the car.
Sand And Ash Protection: The lessee will be covered against possible damages caused by sand and/or ash storms. These kinds of storms can cause considerable damage to the car, including the paint, windows and lights.
Super Collision Damage Waiver: Covers the lessee in case of damages to the car or accidents.
Self Risk: Is reduced from 150.000 ISK to 90.000 ISK for the above listed items.
The below listed items are included with zero self risk with the partial insurance:
Tire Insurance: The lessee will be covered against possible damages of the tires. It covers the cost of repairing the tire or buying a new tire, if it is not salvagable. The insurance also covers the workshop cost of mounting the new/fixed tire. You will however have to change the tire yourself when you have a flat and bring the damaged tire to a workshop.
Windscreen Insurance: Covers the lessee in case of damage to the windscreen resulting in the need to change the windscreen, such as chips or breaks due to gravel or other damage.
Full insurance Includes:
All of the items mentioned and described under Partial Insurance with 0 ISK self risk.
At pickup, you will need to provide a valid driving license of each driver.
Both the main driver and additional drivers will need to present a valid driver's license in their name. It is the responsibility of each driver to find out what documentation they need before driving in another country. For example, they may need a visa or international driving license in addition to their driving license. Each driver will need to present a valid driving license. If it is not written in Latin characters, you will also need to present an international driving permit or a certified translation. Any driver with a non-European driving license is advised to also carry an International Driving Permit. Viking Wheels Car Rental reserves the right to refuse a rental at pickup if they feel that requirements for driver's license or driver's competence are not met.
Viking Wheels does impose an age restriction for renting a vehicle with us.
Drivers must be 20 years old or older. This applies both to the person who makes the reservation, and any secondary/additional drivers.
In addition to the age restriction, all drivers must have held a valid drivers license for at least one year.
The lessee and passengers of the vehicle are asked to respect the vehicle and preserve its condition as best they can during the leasing period. Smoking and/or smell of cigarettes/marijuana/vapes/e-cigarettes in the car can result in your deposit amount being forfeit.
The main driver (the person indicated in the reservation) must be present when the car is picked up. There may be a daily charge for additional drivers. Rental terms, including age restrictions and fees, apply to any additional drivers.
The vehicle should be returned with the same level of fuel as it was delivered with. If you return the vehicle with less fuel than was in the tank when it was delivered to you, the rental company will retain some or all of your deposit to cover the missing fuel. You will be charged the full cost of the missing fuel at the current price of market per litre.
